ATMA - About Us Inaugurated in 1963 by a group of dedicated individuals concerned with the Cereal Milling Industry, A.T.M.A. has grown and developed to incorporate participation throughout Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. The constitution aims of the A.T.M.A. are as follows: "To bring together members of the Cereal Milling and allied industries, and to encourage technical interest and knowledge to the betterment of the industry". Membership is open to those 'who are engaged or who have been engaged in a technical capacity in Cereal Milling and allied industries, and...to those of other industries which serve them." A.T.M.A. is totally self-sufficient, with funding coming from Members' subscriptions. In this way, A.T.M.A. can play an unbiased and objective roles within the industry. The obvious support from employers of Members may sometimes appear to be a neglected area of recognition, but A.T.M.A. realises that active participation of Members is only possible through member's time and expertise being made available. Regular technical nights and factory visits are held, the topics cover many relevant aspects of our industry. A.T.M.A. would welcome any Inquiries from employers as to what activities are planned, or any suggestions for a technical function our program's are directed by and for those who express desires for topics. The State Committee is responsible for the organisation and administration of biennial National Conferences by rotation-a highlight of the A.T.M.A. calendar, and a meaningful forum for the development and consolidation of the more technical aspects of the industry, with considerable international experience. Predictably, the true value of such gatherings emanates from the informal discussions and relationships which develop in a non-commercial environment where participants share a common interest in similar purpose. A great deal of planning and voluntary hard work is contributed by Members and all Conferences have provided their own reward to attendees and speakers alike, through the comradeship and enthusiasm created. A.T.M.A. maintains a non-corporate membership philosophy and as such discourages destructive commercial competition within the framework of its activities. The level of involvement is set by the individual, with no requirement to compromise commercial standing or mode of operation. Voluntary cooperation is the cornerstone of the A.T.M.A. policy, membership entails no hidden pressures in terms of time or effort. A.T.M.A. find that satisfaction and development follows is directly related to participation, in a non-regulatory environment. Experience has proved that A.T.M.A. membership, and more particularly Committee work, to be an effective personal development medium, with support from one's peers being a real fact of A.T.M.A. life. With economic conditions always having a bearing on industries activities and policies, A.T.M.A. recognises that it must justify itself not only to its Members, but to their industries at large, in order for it's effectiveness and support to continue and for support to grow. With this in mind, A.T.M.A. Committees constantly review their programs to ensure maintenance of high quality and relevant topics. |
