Lifetime Membership

1) The number of Life Members within the Division at any one time shall not exceed 10% of the total Division members.

2) A Life Member shall have been a financial member of a Division of the Association for at least ten (10) years continuously.

3) A Life Member shall have contributed significantly in these areas

a) Foundation of the Association or establishment of a Division.

b) Direct involvement with Association activities (e.g. Technical Functions, Conferences, etc).

c) Participation as a Committee member.

d) Fostering of Association promotion, either through personal or corporate efforts (e.g. TAFE Cereal Milling Course, canvassing of new members, etc.).

4) Members who propose Life Membership for a member of the Association shall submit a proposal form to the incumbent Committee, together with the signature of the seconder. The submission should set out the reasons for proposing Life Membership. The degree and balance of the criteria conditions shall be a matter initially for the proposes, and judgement by the Committee.

5) The Committee shall decide by majority the acceptability of the submission. This action shall result from the Committee's evaluation -

NON-APPROVAL

i) The Committee shall refer to the proposer for clarification and/or elaboration on the criteria, within one (1) month of receipt of the proposal. If still unacceptable, the Committee shall inform the proposer of its final decision

ii) Failure to gain approval shall mean that no subsequent proposal for the same member can be considered by the Committee for a minimum of two (2) years from the initial submission.

APPROVAL

iii) The Committee shall advise the proposer of the success of the submission, within one (1) month of the decision being made.

iv) The formal announcement shall be made at the next Annual General Meeting of the Division, and the acceptance confirmed to the Life Member in writing within one (1) month of that meeting.

6) Life Membership shall entitle the member to be exempt from annual subscriptions or Technical Function fees, but not Biennial Conference charges or other charges as permitted by the Constitution.
