Grain Quality Technical Officer – Milling Specialist

AEGIC is seeking a Grain Quality Technical Officer – Milling Specialist.

The Grain Quality Technical Officer – Milling Specialist supports AEGIC’s research and innovation outcomes in grain quality testing and end-product methodologies.

A self-motivated individual, output focussed, and results orientated, you will be equally capable of working independently or as part of a team. You will be committed to continuous improvement.

The Role:

This position plays a critical role in achieving AEGIC’s vision and will positively contribute to the development and maintenance of AEGIC’s organisational values and culture.

Candidate suitability will be assessed using the key functions of the role and demonstration of alignment with AEGIC’s values of Respect, Connect and Strive.

Key functions:

  • Provide expertise in wheat milling to support AEGIC internal R&D, in market technical workshops, training and external client needs
  • Manage all aspects of milling laboratory functions such as but not limited to maintenance and commissioning of the mills and milling support equipment, maintenance of all grain equipment and grain storage facilities
  • Manage grain receivals, grain storage, handling, and sample preparation for quality evaluation.
  • Develop and manage receivals and mill laboratory quarantine status.
  • Use knowledge of AQIS inspection requirements and protocols in relation to receiving grain samples and sending samples interstate and internationally.
  • Contribute to method and protocol development of operational procedures relating to grain tests. Assist with general laboratory maintenance services.
  • Provide high-level technical support to grain quality and grain research activities as required, working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Train and mentor staff in the grain receivals, grain storage and sample preparation area.
  • Display motivating behaviour to promote AEGIC values.
