SFMCA Development Officers Required for SA, NSW, QLD

The Stock Feed Manufacturers' Council of Australia (SFMCA) represents feed milling companies throughout Australia. SFMCA members manufacture over 5,500,000 tonnes of feed annually; this is principally feed which is supplied to commercial poultry, pig, beef, dairy, sheep, horse, aquaculture and household livestock producers. SFMCA members operate 122 feed milling sites located in all States of Australia. The number of mills and volume of feed manufactured represents over 90% of all commercial feed sold within Australia.

Due to impending retirements the SFMCA now requires three State Development Officers in NSW, Queensland and South Australia. These are part-time roles of about three days per month.

Role
The State Development Officers will provide executive support and industry development services to the Stock Feed Manufacturers’ Council of Australia (SFMCA) and its members. Duties include:
•Arrange and manage all aspects of the State Committee executive and member meetings as required. This will include venues, agenda preparation, speaker arrangements, registration of attendees, catering, preparation and distribution of minutes. Expected to be 3-4 member meetings per annum plus executive meetings as and when required.
•Enact policy and decisions of the State Committee including meetings with external bodies such as Government departments, submissions for funding or issue response and representation at industry forums.
•Manage allocated budget funds available to the State Committee for expenditure.
•Conduct routine correspondence on behalf of the State Committee.
•Work with the SFMCA Executive Officer to enact Federal Council policy decisions at the State level. This will include addressing issues as they arise and working with other State Development Managers to arrive at mutually beneficial resolutions for the industry.
•Promote and encourage membership applications targeting potential new members through phone, email and visitation.
•Work with the SFMCA national office to ensure the membership database and circulation lists are up to date. Promote the stock feed industry generally and SFMCA specifically within the State.
•Provide general information services to individual members as required. This will include areas promoting SFMCA national programs such as FeedSafe, training, conferences and insurance provision.
•Share any specific areas of expertise that can support other State Committees and the SFMCA more broadly.

Requirements
•Working knowledge of the stock feed industry, preference for someone having worked in the industry
•Understanding of government regulatory control of the stockfeed industry
•Contribution to industry committees and working groups Running meetings and sourcing venues and speakers
•Ability to meet and mix with industry representatives
